“I think artists enjoy doing self portraits since every person knows himself the best, and for a painter, it helps to know your subject well.  After so many years of shaving, I think I’ve gotten to know each and every wrinkle on my face.  And self portraits are easy since you don’t have to get a model.  All you need is a mirror and you can start painting.  But each self portrait comes out differently, depending on how you’re feeling that day, the lighting and the circumstances in which you are painting.”
